Qualifications and experience
I hold a Level 3 Diploma in Adult Social Care, which strengthened my understanding of safeguarding, professional boundaries, personcentred practice, equality and diversity, and the legal frameworks that guide our work. The course helped me grow in confidence, communicate more clearly, and support individuals safely and respectfully. Everything I’ve learned feeds directly into my work at The Lighthouse.
Alongside my training, I bring many years of lived experience with addiction, having been personally affected since my teenage years. My journey has shaped me into someone empathetic, compassionate, and able to connect with people on a real, human level. Combining lived experience with professional knowledge allows me to support clients in a way that is both emotionally grounded and safe, perfectly aligned with the values of The Lighthouse.
Working with addiction
Addiction is very close to my heart. I spent many years in and out of rehabilitation facilities myself, so I understand what treatment truly feels like – the fear, the hope, and the courage it takes to start again. Being in recovery gives me a deep understanding of what clients are facing and helps me advocate for recovery in a grounded, authentic way.
My lived experience allows me to meet people where they are, without judgement, and guide them towards a new way of life with honesty and compassion. I believe recovery is possible for anyone, and I’m passionate about helping individuals rebuild their lives, reconnect with their families, and witness the hope that loved ones gain when someone completes treatment and begins to change their life.
Working at the lighthouse
Since joining The Lighthouse, I’ve felt like I’ve become part of a family. It’s a workplace where people genuinely care, about the clients and about each other. I’ve always felt valued, supported, and encouraged to grow both personally and professionally. Being part of a team that shares the same passion for helping people is something I’m truly grateful for.
Hobbies and interests
My recovery is a big part of my life, it helps me stay clean one day at a time, be an active and productive member of society, and give back through my work at The Lighthouse. I’m a member of Narcotics Anonymous and proud to be part of a community of fellows who support one another through service and shared experience.
Outside of work, I’m an avid gardener and love anything to do with plants and flowers. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, making memories, and getting outdoors with my little dog for beach walks.
